Frans Hals Museum
Just a quick hop over from Amsterdam lies the delightful town of Haarlem. The main sight for art lovers here is the Frans Hals Museum, and what draws most folks in is obviously its namesake’s breathtaking assemblage of canvases. But the other popular, and quite surprising, attraction is the remarkable miniature home (calling it a “dollhouse” does not do it justice) once owned and designed by Amsterdamer Sara Rothe in the mid-1700s. This incredible work is replete with meticulously reproduced furniture and it’s own collection of minuscule paintings, a must see!
