South Philly
South Philly is an eclectic and culturally rich neighborhood perfect for wandering and exploring. You'll want to check out the Italian Market, it can seem a little dirty (and smelly on a hot day) but it is full of great deals and fantastic for people watching. Once you've had your fill of the market, head south. On the corner of 9th and Federal, you'll discover the home of the original Philly Cheesesteak, Pat's. Across the street is another Philly staple, Geno's. These two have been in friendly competition for decades. From here continue on and explore some of the residential side streets. You'll find unique mosaics and murals all over the place (like the one in this picture found on the side of a house by 13th and Ellsworth). Once you've worked up an appetite, head on over to East Passyunk Crossing and try out Birra, Pub on Passyunk East, or Cantina.
