Cultural engagement at its absolute best can be found among the Himba and Herera people in Namibia. Farthest afield from a modern lifestyle are the Himba people who we encountered in the Kunene region of the country near Epupa Falls. Our guides easily translated our questions, negotiated opportunities to take photos, and further explained the way of life of this beautiful tribe. What struck me while we were in their villages was that they are not dependent on the global economy that deteriorated with the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
