National Office For Heroes
Situated in one of the corners of the Carol Park (one of the largest parks in Bucharest), Tepes Castle houses the National Office for Heroes. The castle is a new building (erected at the beginning of the 20th century) but it has a medieval look. The medieval interior offers an insight into how the Romanian fortresses were built in the Middle Ages. It is actually a reconstruction of the fortress from Poienari (Arges County). The building was originally constructed as the water tower for the 1960s exhibition that took place in Bucharest. King Carol didn't like the image of the water tower so the fake elevation of the well-known Romanian castle seemed an appropriate architectural solution. #bucharest #romania #museum
