Alexander Nevsky Church
This church, built in 1898 in the Russian baroque style, is the only temple or church in Minsk still in its original form. During the Great Patriotic War (WWII), a bomb fell in front of St. Nicholas in the church, however never exploded. This along with a fire in the cemetery in which the flames went out alone, was considered a miracle. There was damage to the building however it remained mostly intact and the church was eventually restored. Within the cemetery two great figures of Belarusian literature are also buried. #church #religion #architecture #history #miracle #building #cemetery #minsk #belarus #easterneurope #europe #free #walkingtour
