Mirador de la virgen
Quebrada La Vieja
The Quebrada La Vieja is one of the most popular hikes in the city, with easy access and the hike is suitable for everyone even children. The trail passes by and follows the La Vieja Creeks with three possible routes to take depending on activity levels and time.
The entrance gate to the hike is located on Carrera 7 with Calle 71, the trail is well marked and there is a police presence throughout the hike. Open daily from 5 am, but occasionally closed for rain or ‘rest days’ this is a great way to get outdoors in the morning or get in some cheap exercise with great views.
The hike can take around 2 hours, with the choice of three trails. The first trail is to the statue of the virgin or the Sendero de la Virgen trail, this trail is the easiest with a marked and paved path to the top. The second trail is the centre trail which is the longest and goes to the northeast and then straight up the mountain to the paramo. This path is blocked by police at 8 am so you have to arrive early to take this trail. The third trails is the right path and lead up to the Cerro de la Cruz, which is a nearby hill with a cross. #hiking #hike #outdoors
