Budget traveler tip in DR: You might be able to walk from the airport to your hotel. We used our SPG points to stay at the Sheraton Airport hotel which was a quick 10 Min walk from the HECTIC airport where taxis can run $50-100 depending on where you’re going. This hotel is cheap points wise - around 4000 points and we got 70,000 points for signing up for the credit card. Check the website for updated details but that’s the deal we got.
