Philadelphia is steeped in history and this definitely holds true in the world of art. The Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts is the first and oldest art museum in the United States. It was also one of earliest institutions to admit, train and display women artists. The Academy currently houses the Linda Lee Atler Collection of Art by Women and pieces by a number of well known American artists.
