The first church on the site was built by St. Stephen in 1015 but was destroyed and rebuilt in the 13th century. It was the site of many weddings and coronations of the Habsburgs. It was occupied by Germans and Soviets during WWII and was restored in 2006. The gallery contains sacred relics and medieval stone carvings.
