Mumbai is a fascinating city, overcrowded, filthy, humid, and yet colourful, welcoming and beautiful. I met a taxi driver who supposedly was good friends with Gregory Roberts, the Australian author of Shantaram (a great read). How true this is I'm not sure, but he knew him as he showed me photo evidence. So later in the week I engaged him on a tour around some of the out of the ordinary sights of Mumbai. He took me to the slum in Colba where he lives and showed me where 'Shantaram' used to live. His son tried to teach me how to play the game Carrom. Either I wasn't very good or the kids were cheating!!
