Simpsons Gap
Simpsons Gap is another dramatic gorge carved out by a creek in the West MacDonnell Ranges. It is the closest gorge to Alice Springs (only 17km away), which makes it a perfect half day trip from town.
Apart from the spectacular geology of the gorge, Simpsons Gap is also well-known for its population of black-footed rock wallabies that can be seen on the rocks at dawn and dusk.
There is also a short walk behind the ranger station called the Ghost Gum Walk, which is great for seeing other wildlife. We saw a small flock of Red-tail Black cockatoos when we visited the gorge.#wildlife #photography #hiking
