Wines Dona Maria
Located in Estremoz, the Dona Maria winery is more of an inviting home, if anything. The classic white and blue arched entrance creates for an opulent ambiance, welcoming you into its grand estate. The unique limestone and marble soil in Estremoz why this particular region is popular for wine production. This specific estate dates back to the 1700’s that includes a long and complex history. It’s good to read up on it before you go. Don’t be surprised if you find current owner, Julio Bastos, or even his wife and dogs roaming around the property. They live onsite and believe in a personal, hands-on approach with guests. Bastos still uses the 17th century marble tanks to tread the grapes. This traditional style of treading results in a earthy, smooth wine. We suggest buying some cases there as Bastos keep the production low—making these wines difficult to find. #wine #portugal #views
