If you're up in Marlborough and want a touch of fishing, rarangi is the perfect spot, with the kahawai literally leaping out of the water (my brothers ended at the opposite end of the river where it meets the ocean and didn't even notice - if they'd stayed in that spot they might of caught something) plenty of freedom campers also located around the area. Beautiful area to watch the sun go down and have a rod out at the same time!
