Williamstown was the first area to be settled in the place that would eventually become Melbourne. At only 20 minutes from the city centre (by train) it’s a great place to visit if you like smalltown vibes and a lovely beach. There are plenty of fish and chip shops (although the Aussie’s seem to use deep fried oven chips rather than potatoes) and a beautiful marina to explore.
