The Maidan is the main square and gathering place for people in Kiev. It's a huge open area with a metro stop underneath as well. This is also where the main protests and demonstrations occurred over Ukraine's relationship with the European Union and their subsequent revolution. Now there are shrines and memorial spaces with flowers and photos to commemorate those who were injured or lost there lives here. You can also see photos of what happened along the makeshift firewall participants erected. Very sobering but a must visit in Kiev. #history #culture #ukraine #kiev #free
