Once the most dangerous neighborhood in Medellin during Escobar's time, Comuna 13 has been transformed due to one of many of medellin's democratic architecture projects. The neighborhood was once virtually inaccessible to the city center until escalators were built into the side of the hill cutting the commute time immensely and therefore creating more job opportunities for those that live there.
