Morro Bay State Park
When you think of camping, Morro Bay State Park is exactly what you imagine. The little town of Morro Bay sits on the coast about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco and is surf crazy. People love it here, and it comes out in their surfing. And the campsite here is even better. Think: twinkle lights strung up on thick pine trees, s’mores being cooked around fire pits, and neighbors who become friends, sharing and trading up any extra goodies. Make sure to stop in San Luis Obispo on your way out and have lunch at Firestone Grill. Try one of their famous for barbecue lunches there or snag one on the best sandwiches you’ll ever have at High Street Deli. Make sure to walk around Bubblegum Alley on Main Street and snap some photos of the Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. If you have time, some wine at Edna Valley Vineyard and check out Hearst Castle along the way. #roadtrip #camping #california
