Nairobi SGR Terminus
If you cannot afford a direct flight to Mombasa or you want to enjoy the journey rather than merely the destination, take the train from Nairobi to Mombasa. Part of the five or six-hour journey is through Tsavo National Park. You will most likely spot elephants, zebras, and giraffes. There are two trains per day: a morning train at around 8 AM and an afternoon train (faster as it doesn't stop anywhere) at around 3 PM. Tickets are sold out quickly, so you should book at least three days in advance. Tickets cost USD 10 for economy and USD 30 for business class. Take snacks with you (although they sell food and instant coffee on board), have reading material and ideally headphones that isolate noise as it gets really busy with kids running up and down the coach. Both stations are not located in the city centre but are close to the airports of Nairobi and Mombasa. #transport #travel #transportation #trainstation #train #tickets
