The stela Minsk Hero City monument was built in 1985, which marked 40 years since the Great Patriotic War (WWII). Minsk was bestowed with the title of hero city in 1974 for the bravery and courage of its residents during the 1,100 days & nights of Nazi occupation. The 45m high obelisk features a hero star at the top.
