Kronborg
Another castle on the list is the famous Kronborg Castle in Helsingør. This beautiful castle has also been acclaimed a UNESCO heritage site. It was built back in the 1420s along with a fortress in Helsingborg (this was the time that a huge part of Sweden still belonged to Denmark) so that the king Eric the 7th could control the enterance to the Baltic Sea.
This castle was also the place that Shakespeare's famous play 'Hamlet' was supposed to take place.
In the castle's basement you'll find a statue of the sleeping Danish King 'Holger Danske'. The legend says that he will wake up on the day that Denmark again needs him to save the homeland.
