Another relic of Constantinople near the Chora Church is the formidable defense wall that marks the border of the ancient city. During the one and a half millennia of its existence, Constantinople has been surrounded by the massive defense walls that ran along the coast (sea wall) and across the land (land wall). The wall at Edirnekapi is one of the best surviving sections of the land wall.
