Museum of Cycladic Art
You may not be familiar with the term “Cycladic Art” (from the culture that developed over 5,000 years ago in the islands southeast of Athens), but you’ve almost certainly seen its most famous representatives. Their beautiful yet deceptively simple white marble figures, mostly of women, influenced a number of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century. There are also some magnificent displays of works from other Grecian eras and locations, I especially adored the ancient child’s rattle shaped like a pig from Cyprus. I guess some things never change..
