Kakunodatemachi
Hiburi Kamakura Festival Around February 13-14, during the bitter cold winter, the city of Kakunodate in northern Japan gather for a brilliant festival. Ropes are tied to straw bags filled charcoal, which are set on fire. Daring participants hold the other end of the rope and swing the blazing bag in a wide circle around themselves as a purifying ritual to drive away evil spirits.
