Bastion Museum
The artist Jean Cocteau fell in love with the seaside town of Menton on the border between France and Italy. The feeling was mutual – in 1957, the mayor of Menton offered Cocteau the 17th century Bastion fort as a setting for the first museum dedicated to his work. While most of Cocteau’s work now resides in the new Musee Jean Cocteau down the road, the Bastion Museum (free with ticket purchase at the new museum) contains several ceramic pieces by Cocteau as well as pebble mosaics inspired by traditional Mentonnais art. #jeancocteau #art #museum
