St. John's Church
Malmö’s main house of worship, Sankt Petri Kyrka, was unfortunately closed for renovations during my visit. But the splendid St. Johannes filled in just beautifully when I needed an old church fix. I was literally all alone in here for a while and the serenity of the place was enhanced by the light smell of incense, the simple pews and the washed-out pastels of the Art Nouveau paintings. The carved wooden alterpiece was sweet and affecting and I loved the somewhat odd (not quite sure how to describe them) stained glass windows. Concerts featuring the massive pipe organ are held regularly.
