Ravenna
Ravenna can be certainly defined as a unknown treasure to the majority of the Italians. Obscured by the most famous Italian cities of art, it is actually an extraordinary town attracting tourists and art lovers from all over the world. Few people know that it has been the capital of three empires for three times: of the Western Roman Empire, of Theodoric King of the Goths and of the Byzantine Empire in Europe. This past is testified by the basilicas and baptisteries, where the richest heritage of mosaics, dating back to the fifth and sixth centuries, is preserved by a particular school where you can buy your own mosaics: Koko Mosaic School. Few people also know that Ravenna has eight monuments included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and that Dante's bones are kept here, and not in Florence. Of course Ravenna is part of Romagna tourism with its old food tradition and with its 35 kilometers of beaches. But also for its new dock side and for the main square Piazza del Popolo. Places where festivals and events are held continuously. For those who love nature, a few kilometers away is the Po Delta, the pine forests of Classe and San Vitale and the oasis of Punte Alberete. Shortly, if you were among those who did not know Ravenna, now you have no more excuses.
