I don’t think that I will ever be able to shake this beautiful and haunting sight from my memory. The Convento Do Carmo was almost completely devastated during the Lisbon earthquake. Its stone roof collapsed and was never rebuilt, you walk in and just stare straight up to the heavens. The adjoining Museu Arqueologico is worth a visit but the main attraction is simply the ruins themselves. Visiting here is a soulful and moving experience.
