Ancient City Gournia
The ancient city of Gournia, or what's left of it, is a beautiful ruin close to the sea, which will take you back 4000 years to the minoan age. The paved roads, staircases and buildings made of stone are authentic and give a good impression of what the city looked like centuries ago. It is situated on a hill, surrounded by mountains and with a breathtaking view towards the sea, which it originally also reached. The ruins can be a accessed through small gravel roads leading away from the main road and can easily be missed. There are several info panels which provide interesting facts and background knowledge about the ancient minoan culture and this site. #history #architecture #hiking #mountains #views #photography
