Having never explored any Roman ruins before, my excursion to Jerash, north of Amman, turned out quite curiously. Pillars, amphitheatres, promenades, and temples are the tourists' playground to gaze upon, sit in, parade thru, and contemplate in. The entire old city is juxtaposed against the modern city where people continue to go about their lives in the surrounding neighborhoods with cars rather than chariots and cable tv rather than shows in the ampitheatre. #Roman #architecture #archeology #history #ruins #antiquity #jerash #walk #temple #columns #pillars
