Helsingborg
Sweden’s second largest port makes for an easy and exciting day trip from Malmö. This place has a classy, sophisticated feel to it and some really worthwhile sights. Their massive red brick Rådhus is quite striking and from the plaza you can view the medieval tower, which is all that remains of the city’s once formidable castle. The Mariankyrkan is the town’s main church and it’s a fascinating mix of vibrantly colored, modern stained glass, a 15th century triptych and model ships hung from the ceiling. The Dunkers Kulturhus is a fine city museum full of intriguing artifacts and terrific old black and white photos. And if that’s not enough, you can jump on the ferry for the 20 minute ride over to Elsinore in Denmark and tour the castle made famous by Shakespeare as the setting for his “Hamlet”.
