Palm Springs Air Museum
Considered to be one of the finest air museums in the country, this place is a must for anyone with even a passing interest in history and aviation. Most of the planes and exhibits deal with WWII (check out the captured German and Japanese paraphernalia) but you can also view Cold War and Vietnam era aircraft. Pay the extra $5 to climb aboard the old B17 bomber, which is considered to be still operational, just watch your head! There are displays on just about any aviation related topic you can think of, navigation, aerial photography, the Tuskegee Airmen, women and flight, old recruitment posters, military uniforms and on and on.. Don’t leave without stopping into the extensive library where you can also try your hand in the cockpit on one of their flight simulators.
