The Lasithi plateau is in the eastern part of crete, close to Agios Nicolaos. It is accessible by car and as it's almost a circle, it is quite easy to explore by just following the road that goes around the whole plateau. The Lasithi plateau has a lot to offer and is therefore probably taking a whole day. The middle of the plateau is basically full of fields and farms, the whole area is surrounded by mountains and hills. There are a few pretty and pittoresque villages around, which are worth a stop to explore. Another really interesting point is the Eco Park Lasinthos, which offers an insight on how life in an old agricultural society might have looked like. They also offer some activities, for example pottery, and they have a cute shop selling regional products. The Lasithi plateau offers amazing attractions for anyone, those who like hiking as well as those who prefer relaxed sightseeing.
