The Muslim Quarter
The Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem's old city is often referred to as "The Shuk" because it is primarily Arab shops, juice stands and restaurants. Here you can haggle for spices, teas and souvenirs. During the day it's safe-ish but locals do not recommend walking through here at night when the shops close. As they say in Hebrew "Israel is safe until it isn't" -- that certainly goes for the Muslim Quarter where stabbings are on the rise.
