When my friends came up to visit Washington from California they had their own kayaks and I rented mine here. They were really hoping they would see some orcas but I told them that would never actually happen and lo and behold! Orcas popped up within 50 feet of our kayaks twice!!! Spy hopping and everything to check us out. The most incredible wild life experience of my life. The lady working at the desk said she was working there for ten years and never saw orcas while kayaking so I still wouldn't count on this. But regardless I think this is one of the best kayaking start points on the island. Cool rocky cliffs and and islands full of curious harbor seals you can kayak up to.
