This impressive and historic waterfront square is a perfect place to begin any tour of Lisbon. You can pop into the welcome center, visit the excellent Lisbon Story Centre to get an overview of the city’s past and present, grab a drink at one of the lively cafes and admire the imposing statue of the dashing Dom Jose. Make sure of stop back here in the evening when the majestic Arco de Victoria is lit up and the Praça takes on a completely different atmosphere.
