Minoan Palace of Knossos
The minoan palace of Knossos is south of Heraklion, the capital of Crete. It's a popular aim for tourists, but definetly worth it. The ruins of the palace are an excavation site and some parts have been reconstructed and repainted to create the impression of how the palace really looked like. The probably best known areas on the palace grounds is the minoan bull, the other one the dolphin fresco in one of the rooms. The palace dates back to minoan times, 4000 years ago, and was the King's palace. It does take quite some time to see the whole site, which is also equipped with several info panels, but especially after walking for a few minutes you'll leave the masses behind and can discover the little rooms and hallways of the ancient palace. #crete #heraklion #history #statue #art #views
