John Longino's experience in Bangkok

Sathon Pier
Donna and I took a local boat with a large diesel engine and a long prop shafts out the back for a 2 hour tour of the canals of Bangkok. We wanted a smaller boat but ended up with one that seats 36 passengers just for the 2 of us. The smaller boats weren't to be found as their operators were apparently off today since the King died yesterday. Differences from here 31 years ago: the boats are bigger and go much slower. Lots mire boats. Of course, there were a million peoplease all wearing black going today where we were yesterday. And - as you can see here - there are now fish in the canals. Lots of fish! This is a boiling swirl of about 200 catfish, maybe 3 pounds each. We saw many others.
