Trevelez is a tiny, almost absurdly picturesque village at the edge of Sierra Nevada National Park in the Andalusia region of southern Spain. It gives good access to Cerro Mulhacén, Spain's highest peak, with backountry huts / trail systems and mountaineering / skiing objectives. Exceptionally affordable for Western European (Airbnbs $300 a month) and with killer food.
