Yuantong temple is in the heart of the city of Kunming and if you're around, I highly recommend it. It was my first temple visit after moving to China and I found it fascinating. The grounds are quite small but I spent a long time there. There are different shrines, a beautiful pond around the back that is memorizing when the light from the water bounces off the rock.
