Besides the spicy scezchuan food I think this is a main reason people come to Chengdu. I was pleasantly surprised, knowing china, that the facilities and enclosures are top notch with lots of places for the animals to roam including out of the prying eye is they so choose. I hate zoos, all of them, so this is a lot coming from me. Make sure you go early when the pandas are active and before the crowds.
