Fun fact: this is the same national forest that’s spread all the way up north towards Big Sur. The southern part is accessed through the lovely town of Ojai in Ventura County. Here there are infinite hiking trails, campgrounds next to swimming holes in rivers and even waterfalls. There are backpacking routes through here as well.
