Also known as Arin Berd, Erebuni Fortress is a walled city from the ancient times that used to be the kingdom of Urartu. It used to be one of the most important economic, political, and cultural centers of the kingdom. The name of today's capital, derived from Erebuni. The Erebuni Historical & Archaeological Culture-Preserve, founded in 1968, features archeological discoveries found here, in Shengavit, and Karmir Blur and showcases the documentation of how the Yerevan came to be.
