There are a plethora of McMenamins around Oregon and Washington. McMenamins Edgefield, located in Troutdale, used to be a county poor farm and later transitioned into a nursing home. The facility closed for a time, and was eventually saved from demolition by a local historical society and government officials. “Soon artists, gardeners, musicians, brewers, winemakers, and other artisans - collectively known as McMenamins - took up residency” and created a “playful gathering spot for guests young and old” (Mcmenamins, Edgefield). On the grounds you will find a hotel, restaurants and small bars, edible gardens, an event space, gift shop, brewery, winery, distillery, golf course, small movie theater, and a spa and soaking tub.
