Windhoek isn't exactly the Garden of Eden when it comes to vegetation but farmers in around the city do manage to coax the earth into spitting out a wealth of green, mostly organically grown produce which is sold at the Green Market in Klein Windhoek every Saturday. Get there early to get your pick of fresh produce, homemade, cheeses, pickles and biltong while beating off housewives for one of about 30 boxes of strawberries.
