This trail is great if you just want a short excursion or have young kids that you don't want to take on long steep hikes. Personally, I took Cataract Falls trail when I wanted to go on a short run. The hike is less than a mile round trip, and it's basically flat the whole way. As an added bonus, the trail is right by the Great Smoky Mountains Association building!
