Scotty's Castle
Scotty's Castle, in Death Valley National Park, was the home of Walter E. Scott--also known as Death Valley Scotty--a prospector and con man. Built in the early 1920s and used briefly as a hotel, Scotty's Castle is one of the top attractions at the northern end of Death Valley National Park today. In October 2015 the area was hit with a torrential bout of thunderstorms and much of the site and roads around were flooded and debris-strewn. Check to see that it's open for tours and visitors before making the trek.
