Ensign Peak
This mellow 0.8 mile round trip hike is easily accessed from downtown Salt Lake. As it was originally used by the early pioneer settlers as a viewing point from which to plan out the city, you’ll naturally have great views of Salt Lake and the surrounding mountains. A pillar marks the summit and plaques point out prominent mountains and features across the valley. Pro tip: Begin your hike in the evening for sunset colors and stay to see the twinkling city lights before heading back to your car.
