Church of San Francisco
This beautiful Baroque style church sits in the centre of the city, looking over a square of the same name. Originally built in 1549 the original church collapsed due to heavy snow fall in 1612, and wasnt rebuilt again the mid 1700's. To help convert the local Aymara people, the Spaniards included images of local animals and pacamama on the building's facade, along with other tricks to get the locals to enter and convert. A museum is located next to the church if you have time for a visit and want to learn more about the history. #history #architecture #familyfriendly #church #basilica #catholic #religion #lapaz #bolivia #southamerica
