The Hole-in-the-Rock Trail provides the perfect Phoenician desert Instagram moment. But unlike a lot of trails, you can access this spot by only hiking ⅕ of a mile up a natural, accessible path in the heart of Phoenix. The hole is an eroded opening that creates a rock window 200 feet above the city. Papago Park’s iconic, massive orange sandstone buttes stand out in contrast against the backdrop of urban buildings and distant mountain ranges. The path is short, but rocky and high-trafficked, visit early in the morning to have the place to yourself.
