Museum of Arts and Crafts, Zagreb
I hate the name “Arts and Crafts Museum”, it sounds like it’s full preschooler-made egg carton caterpillars or ugly potholders. But it’s really one of Zagreb’s “don’t miss” museums, a joyous hodgepodge of art and design that really works. This sumptuous space displays fantastic old black and white photography, bold Yugoslavian graphic posters, a delightful collection of classic timepieces, rare religious objects, Art Deco glass, fashion, furniture and so much more. There are also a few truly first class oil paintings by the likes of Guido Reno and Ferdinand Bol on display. And if you like, you can even pull on the rope in the bell display and try your hand at bell ringing. This place is worth several hours at least.
